Week 2: Home vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals come to FirstEnergy Stadium for Thursday Night Football, kicking off Week 2 action in the NFL. After facing Baltimore on the road in Week 1, the Browns come back home and get a game, on paper, they should win handily.

Getting rookie quarterback Joe Burrow early in the season before he gets time to adjust to the NFL game could benefit Cleveland in this one, as Browns defensive coordinator Joe Woods can throw some schemes at Burrow he has never faced before.

The Bengals are very young and still do have a suspect offensive line. Putting pressure on Burrow early and often would be key in this game, as Myles Garrett should have a field day. The Browns will also have to slow down a decent receiver tandem in A.J. Green and rookie Tee Higgins.

Hopefully the sting of losing by double digits to the Bengals during Week 17 of last season still exists. This Browns team has no business losing to a team that is so inexperienced and has such little depth like the Bengals do.

Baker Mayfield needs to get off to a fast start next season to get his confidence and swagger back, and this Cincinnati defense could be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry seems to think Mayfield is set to have a huge season:

"“I can assure you there’s nobody who’s more focused and determined to put last year behind him and take a step forward than him,’’ -Andrew Berry on ESPN’s Golic and Wingo"

As long as Cleveland comes into this game hungry, this should be an easy one.
