The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including why Baker Mayfield could have a big season looming.
With all of the expectations surrounding the Cleveland Browns in 2019, one of the biggest was a big sophomore season from quarterback Baker Mayfield. Cleveland added more weapons to Mayfield’s arsenal, giving him plenty of options to make plays.
However, Mayfield was unable to take advantage of his offensive weapons, and it led to a poor 2019 season. Mayfield’s issues in the 2019 offense was a reason why the Browns decided to hire Kevin Stefanski, who has an offense that should take advantage of Mayfield’s skill-set.
The hiring of Stefanski and the improvement along the offensive line has created a strong sense of belief in Mayfield this upcoming season. It will also be an important season for Mayfield because it could prove to be a make-or-break season with a potential contract extension looming.

Today’s featured article discusses why Mayfield could be in store for a big 2020 season under the leadership of Stefanski.
"“Touchdowns, you can get a season where you have 10 throws to go inside the 3-yard line and then they run it in, so you catch [good] luck, you catch bad luck sometimes with that. But I have said this: he’s going to have a monster season. I feel confident in that.”"
Mayfield showed the accuracy in 2018 to be an extremely successful quarterback in the NFL. However, Mayfield was put into a poor scheme in 2019, creating many doubters. With a quarterback friendly system under Stefanski, Mayfield having a major bounce-back season in 2020 could be in the future.
An analytical look at the Browns linebacker group
The Cleveland Browns new front office will be leaning on the use of analytics, including how they build their roster. Jarrett Griebeler takes an analytical look at the young group of linebackers on Cleveland’s roster.
"Aranda used the example as evidence Delpit will continue to improve the weakness with the Browns, who selected him at No. 44 in the second round last month. Aranda said Delpit (6-foot-2½, 213 pounds) was always a willing tackler but developed bad habits on his way to 38 missed tackles in his last two seasons."
There are a lot of questions about if Grant Delpit can become a reliable safety because of his struggles as a tackler during his time at LSU. However, if his tackling issues can be remedied by working on bad habits and cleaning up his technique, he could become an all-around solid safety with improved tackling.
Cleveland Browns keeping an eye on free agent Jason Peters
The Cleveland Browns made improving their offensive line a priority during this offseason, as they signed Jack Conklin and drafted Jedrick Wills. However, they may not be done as they are keeping an eye on the market of free agent offensive tackle Jason Peters.
