Left tackle Joe Thomas

2019 was a horrible year for the Browns offensive line. Chris Hubbard and Greg Robinson both struggled tremendously against edge rushers, and Baker Mayfield was constantly under pressure before plays could develop.

Things will certainly be better in 2020 with free agent signee Jack Conklin at right tackle and the No. 10 pick of the 2020 NFL draft, Jedrick Wills, at left tackle. Those upgrades with new offensive line coach Bill Callahan should have Mayfield in good hands.

However, there is always room for a legend like Joe Thomas to join the roster. There is no other player who is more beloved by fans than Thomas as he gave everything he had to the city and saw very little success during his time in Cleveland.

In 11 seasons with the Browns, Thomas was selected to the Pro Bowl in 10 of those seasons and was elected first-team All-Pro six times. Let’s also not forget that Thomas played 10,363 consecutive snaps for the Browns before a triceps injury in 2017.

There is perhaps no other player in the NFL that deserves to win more than Thomas. He was nothing but positive his entire career and continues to be an advocate for the Browns. When the Wills pick was announced in April, no one was more excited than Thomas. The only thing better than Callahan and Thomas mentoring Wills next season would be Thomas on the field allowing Wills to sit back and learn for a season. While that is a “dream scenario,” a fan can certainly wish.
