One NFL insider says that the Cleveland Browns adding Jadeveon Clowney is still a possibility

The Cleveland Browns have already had an impressive offseason but there could be one more name they add to their team. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been looked at by the Browns and one NFL insider says that adding him to the roster could still be a possibility.

NFL reporter Charles Robinson recently went on the Pat McAfee show and gave his opinion on free agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney. According to Robinson, Clowney is interested in signing somewhere long-term but says there are some hold-ups there.

Clowney signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks last season and while he played well, the numbers weren’t there for him. The lack of what Robinson called a “pop season” with 14-15 sacks has kept teams from throwing big money at Clowney.

This has led to a belief that Clowney will end up taking another one-year contract while trying to secure the bag in 2021. According to Robinson, that’s not the thought process for the free agent who feels like he already did the one-year deal and now he wants more. After saying this, Robinson said he believes there is one team out there who can afford to give him a multi-year deal in the high-teens per year, which is the Browns.

Currently, the Browns have Olivier Vernon and Myles Garrett as their starting defensive ends but Clowney, when healthy, is an upgrade over Vernon. Clowney has had some issues staying healthy but the talent is there for sure and putting him across from Garrett would give the Browns two former No. 1 overall picks on the same defensive line.

Cleveland has already had a great offseason under first-year general manager Andrew Berry and landing Clowney would be the icing on the cake.
