For every team, there are always several stories that follow them around all year. For the Cleveland Browns, these are the top-5 in the 2020 season
Every season is made up of several storylines. If all the stories work out in the club’s favor, they could have a successful season. If not, things could go bad in a hurry. This was the case for the Cleveland Browns in 2019.
Their top storyline centered around rookie head coach Freddie Kitchens and how he would handle a team full of big egos and even larger aspirations. Following a 5-3 finish to the prior campaign, the Browns had a lot of eyes on them and Kitchens was the big unknown.
Hand-picked by general manager John Dorsey, Kitchens was supposed to be the calming voice for the team and his play-calling was expected to be similar to what he showed down the stretch in 2018. That didn’t happen as he proved quickly to be in over his head as the players seemed to all do their own thing and his game plans on Sunday seemed to be lacking the ‘plan’ portion.
In the end, the story ended with both Kitchens and Dorsey exiting Berea. Neither kept their job following the 6-10 mark and now, there is a whole new set of storylines to watch for the Browns.
Here, we dive into the five biggest stories surrounding a team that is once again facing some major changes in the front office and coaching ranks, but they still have some lofty expectations despite those changes.
