The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Baker Mayfield avoiding the hype this offseason.

Much like the rest of the Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield fell victim to the hype surrounding the organization in 2019. In a season full of disappointment, Mayfield’s performance during the lackluster season was among the larger disappointments.

Nick Chubb has stated throughout this offseason that the Browns were listening to the hype last season, and they may not have put in as much work as they needed to be ready for the season. It resulted in a miserable for the Browns.

Mayfield received criticism for being in multiple commercials last offseason, which has created the narrative that Mayfield was not as focused on the season as he should have been. Even if that was not the case, Mayfield has stayed out of the spotlight this offseason.

Browns’ Baker Mayfield says he’s working hard on field, staying quiet off it – Jake Trotter, ESPN

"“It’s just time to work, do our thing, instead of talking about it,” Mayfield said Wednesday on a video call with reporters. “This is the first media thing I’ve done, just because there’s no need to be talking about it.“It’s just time to go do it.”"

Mayfield became known as a lightning rod on and off the field during his first two seasons with the Browns, and it ended up creating some trouble for the young quarterback. This offseason, Mayfield seems keen on showing his maturity and putting in the work to prove his doubters wrong when the season rolls around.

Jadeveon Clowney reportedly hesitant to sign with the Browns

Notes: Baker Mayfield expects big things from healthy Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry in 2020 – Scott Petrak, BrownsZone

"“It is just a different mindset going into it. I think they went back to the basics. They are ready to take over and it is their time now. They know that. We only have so many more opportunities together. They are going to do it and everything for each other, and I am looking forward to seeing the productivity they have.”"

Mayfield being unable to build chemistry with Odell Beckham during the week certainly hindered their performances on game days. However, with both Beckham and Jarvis Landry healthy heading into the regular season, there is a much better opportunity for the Browns quarterback and receivers to have better connections during the season.
