Cleveland Browns: Hue Jackson still has hard feelings towards Baker Mayfield
By Mitch Zoloty
Former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson is clearly not a fan of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Here we are again, with Hue Jackson back in Cleveland Browns news.
Its been approximately 590 days since Hue Jackson was fired by the Browns on October 29th, 2018, but he is still finding himself talking about Baker Mayfield and his stint in Cleveland publicly.
This time, he went on 92.3 The Fan and had the following quote to say:
Clearly, their relationship is still a sore spot for Hue Jackson. Hue’s relationship with the Cleveland Browns organization and the fanbase clearly soured up there at the end, and its sad to see that it still hasn’t healed, at least between him and Baker Mayfield.
The team sure seemed like they were hurt when Hue Jackson quickly joined the Bengals after being fired by the Cleveland Browns. Baker Mayfield had one of the best games in his career in his only game against a Hue Jackson coached team, dropping four touchdown passes and 258 yards with a 73 percent completion percentage in the 35-20 win against the Bengals. This was also the game where Damarious Randall tossed the interception directly to Hue Jackson, which was one of the highlights of that season for the Browns.
It’s unclear why Hue Jackson still has hard feelings towards the Browns, specifically Baker Mayfield. One would assume the interception from Damarious Randall would be considered a worse attack than whatever Baker did to him, but he seems to have singled out Baker Mayfield specifically. Maybe the staredown is what he is referring to? It seems kind of odd to still be upset about that after over a year, though.
Hopefully, Baker Mayfield will take the high road and not comment back to Hue Jackson’s statement. If there is anything still bothering Hue Jackson and Baker Mayfield, hopefully, they can work it out, because life is too short to hold grudges over things that to the public’s eye, are so trivial.
