The Dialy Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know
The NFL and many of their players have been speaking up as of late. With the current political climate we are living in, they are trying to do all they can to raise awareness of social justice issues and Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns can be counted among those trying to use their platform to promote positive change.
Over the weekend, Mayfield let it be known that he will be kneeling for the national anthem — something that has been a hot button issue ever since Colin Kaepernick first took a knee in 2017. Mayfield understands that there are still those who believe strongly that no one should kneel during the anthem but he says he’s ok with that, even if it means he loses fans.
The young quarterback sounds very genuine in saying he means no disrespect but has to do what he feels led to do.

"“I have the utmost respect for our military, cops and people that serve our country,” Mayfield added. “It’s about equality and everybody being treated the same because we’re all human. It’s been ignored for too long and that is my fault as well for not becoming more educated and staying silent. If I lose fans, that’s OK. I’ve always spoken my mind. And that’s from the heart.”"
Mayfield is right that some fans won’t be fine with his kneeling. It’s been a divisive topic for years now and while he’s genuine in saying he means no disrespect to the military or those who keep our country safe, there will be plenty who don’t believe that. Still, he’s doing what he feels is right, which is all we can do right now.
"“Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett reached out to John Sanders, the 24-year-old black man who lost an eye after police fired a beanbag into a group of protesters May 30, to offer his support and aid in funding his recovery.”"
Myles Garrett continues to do his part to help out wherever he can. He has shown support for many during these tough times in our country and it shows he has his heart in the right place.
