The Cleveland Browns added two female scouts to their staff, as they continue to prove to have one of the most diverse operations in the NFL

It was just last week when Dawg Pound Daily’s own Elliot Kennel praised the Cleveland Browns for their diversity from top to bottom. He pointed out that they have one of just two minority general managers as well as discussed how they have given opportunities to minority coaching.

Kennel didn’t stop there as he highlighted the fact that they have a female coach on staff in Callie Brownson, the team’s chief of staff.

Now, they continue to make moves to remain diverse as Mary Kay Cabot reported the team signed two females to their scouting staff. Riley Hecklinski is joining the research department as a full-time scouting assistant and Kathleen Wood will also come to Berea to serve as a scouting fellow for the 2020 season.

Hecklinski is the only full-time female scout according to Cabot and has a background in recruiting for the University of Kansas. She was also a former softball player and worked in the Senior Bowl.

Wood also worked for Jim Nagy who runs the Senior Bowl, and she was their first female scout.

Her background is unique as Wood was a private investigator for 16 years before breaking into the scouting world. She says her skills in investigating and analyzing data is what helps her in her newest profession.

Cleveland is her third NFL team as WOod was a scouting fellow and intern for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Senior Bowl.
