Goal No. 3 for Hunt: Average 6.5 yards per touch for the Cleveland Browns

The third goal for Kareem Hunt during the 2020 season is to see him averaging 6.5 yards per touch. Hunt’s career average in this category is 5.6 yards per touch, for context, according to Pro Football Reference.

So along those lines, and with him operating as the second back, him averaging 0.9 yards more per touch doesn’t seem outrageous. It may be a tad lofty, but with Hunt realistically having a higher share of passing game touches than Nick Chubb, it seems attainable. He’s generally going to be the third-down back so those passes thrown his way should help to increase that average.

More importantly, this would also show that Hunt is taking full advantage of the room generated by the Cleveland Browns’ other weapons around him.

Hunt should again benefit in a sizable way from the attention Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, and feasibly Chubb in some instances on the field together will draw.

From there, with Hunt’s speed, quickness, power, and elusiveness, him averaging what would be a career-high in yards per touch, albeit on a smaller volume, doesn’t seem far-fetched.

That’s if he can stay healthy this upcoming season for rookie head coach Kevin Stefanski and company.

It could end up signaling the end as Hunt hitting all these goals will surely lead to someone offering a huge contract but that’s a risk this staff should be willing to take.
