The Cleveland Browns have never had Odell Beckham Jr. at full strength.

When former Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey traded for wide Odell Beckham, Jr., the 27-year-old receiver was dealing with a handful of lingering injuries.

After the miserable 2019 season for the Browns, Beckham underwent core-muscle surgery.

On a conference call with reporters, new head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that Beckham is ready to go for training camp. This affirms the videos circulating social media of Beckham running routes with free-agent quarterback Cam Newton that Beckham is, in fact, healthier than he has been in prior seasons.

"“Odell’s free and clear,” Stefanski said. “He’s 100 percent and looking really good.”"

The Browns report for training camp in one month, and Stefanski is set to have his superstar receiver at full strength.

So, what now?

First and foremost, Beckham needs to buy into Stefanski’s new system.

Beckham made it clear to the world at the end of last season that he was unhappy with the pure ineptitude of Freddie Kitchens. Everybody was on different pages, including Beckham, who frequently dropped easy passes and appeared to be running the wrong routes at times.

OBJ needs to fully understand and buy into Stefanski’s new offense. Certainly, with the success of the Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, Beckham and Jarvis Landry should have no problem seeing their fair share of targets in a system that worked so well in Minnesota.

It’s a pivotal year for the pair of Louisiana State Tiger teammates, as their contracts will weigh heavily on a Browns salary cap situation that involves extending Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb.

The Browns simply can’t afford any more “Come Get Me” rumors in 2020. No more clown shoes. No more watches. No more illegal face masks.

A first-year head coach, Stefanski, will have enough on his plate, including a condensed offseason program to implement the aforementioned offense due to the coronavirus pandemic. Any distractions off the field weigh heavy into what happens on the field.

Next, Beckham needs to find that coveted connection with quarterback Baker Mayfield. Last season, Mayfield clearly had no chemistry with Beckham and was continually throwing passes behind or out of his reach.

Despite the struggles, Beckham still had over 1,000 yards receiving.

With quite possibly the worst head coach of all-time. Imagine if he was fully healthy.

The stars are truly aligned for Beckham and Mayfield to click. Both players have documented their offseason work on their respective social media platforms. As bad as former head coach Freddie Kitchens was, Beckham was No. 2 in the NFL in play-action yards, according to Pro Football Focus.

Over half of Beckham’s receiving yards, 536 of them, came in play action. More good news for the Cleveland Browns, who hired a head coach that capitalized heavily on play-action in Minnesota. Furthermore, Mayfield thrives under play-action passes and he has since his time with the Oklahoma Sooners. For reference sake, Landry had 521 play action yards. On paper, this offense should be dynamic.

Now that Beckham is healthy, the Browns offense is fresh out of excuses if this thing fails.

Sure, they have a new head coach. Again.

But if Stefanski is as organized as advertised, the players should have no problem implementing his offense once training camp begins at the end of July.

With Beckham, Mayfield, and Landry healthy, and a system that benefits all parties, it’s time to put it on the field and translate this stockpiled talent into the win column.
