Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 10. 47. New England Patriots 2014. Browns 2019. GarrettGilbert

Garrett Gilbert, the Cleveland Browns’ third-string quarterback, has a Super Bowl ring that he earned while he was a member of the New England Patriots practice squad in 2014. Despite a strong arm, excellent height and size, Gilbert was not drafted, mainly due to concerns about interceptions, which plagued him his first three years of college.

He has looked great during preseasons since 2014, and he was the leading passer for the Alliance of American Football (AAFC). It’s hard to say how good Gilbert might be now that he has had seven years of intense training though with very little regular-season game experience might be that Gilbert is a very decent quarterback now.

Hopefully, we will never find out because Baker Mayfield will stay healthy all season so that no backup will be needed

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2002. Browns 1993-1995. 9. player. 48. Scouting Report. TomTupa. Pick Analysis

Tom Tupa was known as a punter but also threw for 3430 yards in the NFL. Bill Belichick picked him up in 1993 after Bernie Kosar was released and Vinny Testaverde got hurt. Thus, initially, they wanted him as a quarterback. However, in 1994 and 1995 he was the Browns first-string punter and emergency quarterback.

Tupa is the answer to many trivia questions including being the first person in the NFL to score on a two-point conversion, running in a fake extra-point kick in 1994, the first year that the two-point conversion rule was used in the NFL.

Tupa of course was the quarterback at Ohio State University as well as an All-American punter.

With Tampa Bay, Tupa was used almost exclusively as a punter, but he did put the ball in the air one time on a botched punt play. He made a desperation pass left-handed that was intercepted for a pick-six.
