Cleveland Browns News: Still in the running for Jadeveon Clowney
The Cleveland Browns are still in play for Jadeveon Clowney
Its officially July which means training camp starts this month which is exciting for NFL fans and the league recently said they plan on training camps starting on time despite the current pandemic.
It is no secret the Cleveland Browns have been interested in Jadeveon Clowney and it is reported that he wants to sign with a team before the season starts, so he will likely make his decision soon.
The fact that there is no clear favorite to sign him should make Browns fans feel good because that means he is still considering their offer. Pairing him with Myles Garrett would be a dream come true for Cleveland.
Clowney has come down from his original asking price of $20 million, mostly because nobody was willing to pay him that.
The Browns reportedly offered him a one-year deal worth around $15 million which is essentially the money they would save if the release defensive end Olivier Vernon.
The offer may have come up since the team has filled most of their needs and have a better idea of the cap situation this season.
A one-year contract would be great for Clowney and the Browns. Clowney would get the chance to prove that he deserves the $20 million that he was asking for the and Cleveland keeps their cap flexibility for the future.
If Clowney signs with the Browns it may be an all in season which sounds weird a year after not making the playoffs last year. But with Clowney the Browns may be a serious Super Bowl contender.
The resolution to the Clowney saga should be coming soon as the season is right around the corner. He could shake up the NFL world by signing in Cleveland.
