5 teams who may call the Cleveland Browns about David Njoku
By Dan Justik
Cincinnati Bengals
It seems unlikely the Browns would trade inside their division, but the Cincinnati Bengals appear to be one of the better fits for a Njoku trade. They have solid weapons at wide receiver and running back, but they are lacking at tight end.
With the departure of Tyler Eifert this offseason, the Bengals tight end room features tight ends who are better fits as blocking tight ends compared to being receivers. C.J. Uzomah and Drew Sample are expected to be the Bengals top tight ends, but neither have shown much as receivers in the NFL.
The addition of Njoku would give the Bengals an athletic tight end who they can feature purely as a pass catching tight end. Putting Njoku into a primarily pass catching role will be the best fit for Njoku, which could help his development.
With the Bengals starting the Joe Burrow era in 2020, it could be in the best interest of the Bengals to surround Burrow with as many weapons as possible. Much like Stidham, giving Burrow a pass catching option in the short to intermediate areas of the field who can gain yards after the catch could help his transition to the NFL.
It may be difficult for the Bengals to swing a deal inside the division, but Njoku could be a solid addition to their offense.
