The Cleveland Browns could be historical with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt

New Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski likes to run the ball. He has not only said as much, but he’s shown it as well in his short play-calling career.

In 2019, his only full season as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator, he led the No. 6 rushing attack in the NFL according to Pro Football Reference with 2,133 yards on the ground. In doing so, he utilized two different backs with their starter Dalvin Cook gaining 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns while rookie Alexander Mattison had 462 yards and a touchdown as well.

Stefanski could have a similar offense in Cleveland with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, who have even more potential than Cook and Mattison. Chubb enters 2020 fresh off a 1,494-yard season which was good for second in the NFL. Hunt played in just eight games in 2019 but isn’t far removed from a rookie campaign that saw him finish as the league’s best running back with 1,327 yards.

Last season, we only saw a glimpse of the two together. Hunt, who was released by the Chiefs in 2018 after a video of him assaulting a woman surfaced spent the first half of the season suspended. He then served in a backup role but had 179 yards rushing and 285 receiving — and that was with Freddie Kitchens struggling as a play-caller.

This season should be better with Stefanski in charge, but how good can they be?

Well, we’re going to have to wait for the official answer but with Stefanski’s penchant for running the ball, there’s a chance this could be a duo that’s talked about for years to come. Which is true for the following tandems that can be compared to the talent Cleveland has this season.
