5 Possible David Njoku trades for the Cleveland Browns

It seems that David Njoku‘s future as a tight end for the Cleveland Browns just got a lot more cloudy than previously thought. He has reportedly requested a trade, but there seems to be a disconnect between him and the front office.

The front office and the Cleveland Browns organization as a whole views Njoku as a valuable piece and won’t give him away without what they believe to be reasonable compensation.

The big debate in any trade scenario is what reasonable compensation is. For Njoku, this debate will be a frivolous one. His value to the Browns organization is significantly more than what his market value appears to be, so a trade is very unlikely. Coach Kevin Stefanski loves using his tight ends, and Njoku has the potential to greatly increase his trade value in this offense.

It is being reported that Njoku’s trade value is only around a 4th or 5th round pick at the moment.

With that being said, there are some interesting deals that could be made with other teams across the league where the Browns could be tempted to make a deal. Teams like the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers, where they have historically had great tight ends, are now in need of a reliable option. Along with them, there are a few other teams that could come calling.

NOTE: If you think the Browns are going to be getting a first-round pick back for Njoku, or something close to that in value, you’re going to end up being disappointed. Sure, he cost a first-round pick in 2017, but just as is the case in real estate — cost doesn’t always equate to value.
