Which Cleveland Browns quarterbacks let the team down the most?

One thing that has been a constant for much of the Cleveland Browns existence has been their inability to field a long-term starting quarterback. Sure, there have been times where someone such as Otto Graham led the way for them, and they even had an MVP in Brian Sipe, but overall their signal-callers have often fallen short.

Heading into 2021, the Browns finally feel set at quarterback. Baker Mayfied, the No. 1 overall pick in 2018, has emerged as a true leader and took Cleveland to the playoffs for the first time since the 2002 campaign.

His progression this past season was huge for not only the team, but the fan base that has endured some real struggles under center for years. There have been plenty of quarterbacks who came into the Dawg Pound and failed to find the success that Mayfield has.

With that being said, we look at the 20 most disappointing quarterbacks the Cleveland Browns franchise has ever had.

Most disappointing Cleveland Browns quarterbacks: 20. Colt McCoy

A former collegiate superstar, Colt McCoy was one of the best quarterbacks the University of Texas ever had. However, his 6-foot-1, 212-pound frame scared some teams away and he ended up being selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, McCoy started eight games and completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 1,576 yards with a 6-to-9 touchdown-interception mark. The following season, he was the starter for 13 games and while his completion percentage dropped by three percent, he had 2,733 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 picks.

Unfortunately, McCoy was adversely impacted by a questionable hit from James Harrison which messed things up for the young quarterback. By 2012, the Browns were ready to move on with Brandon Weeden and McCoy was traded the following season after spending that campaign on the bench. In all, he was 6-15 as the starter for Cleveland.
