Browns center J.C. Tretter has been one of the most underrated and underappreciated players over the last few years. He has quietly become one of the better centers in the league, despite not yet being given a Pro Bowl nod.

Tretter is a consistent player who rarely makes mistakes for the Browns. He and left guard Joel Bitonio have been a reliable tandem for the Browns offensive line, although they have not had much help alongside them. Despite his production, he is rated 79 overall by Madden in the preseason rankings.

Tretter should most certainly break into the 80s. He is not a top-tier player, but he is definitely above average at the center position and his rating should reflect that. PFF even has Tretter ranked as the fourth best center in the league, yet his rating puts him as the 15th best in Madden.

He has been a focal point for the Browns interior line since 2017. His blocking grades in Madden are 81 for both run and pass blocking. His ratings should be much higher than that.

The league should respect Tretter more as a player, but the Browns certainly appreciate his services. Much like Wills, if the Browns have success this year, look for Tretter’s ranking to be on the rise by the end of the season.
