Predicting the Cleveland Browns 55-man roster at start of camp

Running Back (4)
The Cleveland Browns running back room goes four deep with three halfbacks and one fullback making the roster.
Nick Chubb
Last year, Nick Chubb was the No. 2 rusher in the NFL with 1,494 yards on the season. He actually crossed the 1,000-yard mark as a rookie in 2018, but then ran for a few yards loss on his final carries of the year to fall behind.
Still, he’s been one of the most dominant runners in the game, which is impressive considering how often former head coach Freddie Kitchens decided to abandon the ground game. With Kevin Stefanski now calling plays, Chubb could be in line for his best campaign as a pro.
Kareem Hunt
Behind Nick Chubb will again be Kareem Hunt, who was the NFL rushing leader in 2017 while with the Kansas City Chiefs. Hunt missed half the season due to suspension in 2019, which means this will be his first full campaign with the Browns.
Like Chubb, he will benefit from Kevin Stefanski taking over as the head coach. Cleveland is going to focus on the ground game and that means Hunt should have plenty of chances to get the ball — even with Chubb being the bell cow.
Andy Janovich
One thing Kevin Stefanski said he wanted to do with the Browns was add a fullback — a position he feels is undervalued. He ended up with a very good one, as the team traded for Andy Janovich from the Denver Broncos. He won’t get the ball a whole lot but Janovich will be a key cog in this offense.
D’Ernest Johnson
Dontrell Hilliard was all the rage in 2019 but now he’s predicted to be beaten by D’Ernest Johnson for the third running back spot. Another AAF Star, Johnson did well in his limited touches and also adds value as a kick returner.
