The Cleveland Browns could still fill out their 2020 roster

2020 training camp is underway as the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the NFL has begun to try and navigate their way through a season with looming questions. Due to concerns brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL is operating in a new way.

They’ve already eliminated the preseason and they cut out all of the offseason programs such as mini-camps and voluntary (but not really) OTAs. That’s made it challenging for a team, such as the Browns, who are trying to install a new system on both offense and defense after they changed coaches this offseason.

Cleveland enters the year with Kevin Stefanski as the head coach, who comes over after spending the past 14 years with the Minnesota Vikings organization. He and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt have a huge task ahead of them as they introduce a whole new offense to a team they hadn’t seen in person until recently.

The same goes for Joe Woods, the defensive coordinator who will be taking over for Steve Wilks — who lasted only one year along with former head coach Freddie Kitchens. Woods is a highly respected defensive coach but he will also have a challenge trying to get as many reps in as possible with limited time and no preseason.

While all that is being figured out, general manager Andrew Berry will be paying close attention as well to see if there are any holes on the roster that he should address. And just because it’s August doesn’t mean there aren’t some decent players available.

With that being said, we jump in and look for three free agents the Browns could sign in August.
