The Cleveland Browns organization has been forced to take a “fly by the seat of their pants” approach in several areas because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it be preparing the team facility for practices or the stadium for game days, things have been changing daily.

One of the big questions for not just the Browns, but for every team in the NFL, is if they will be able to have some fans in the stands for games. As some sports have allowed a small amount of fans in attendance, there has been less clarity from the NFL.

The NFL seems to be taking the approach of potentially allowing fans in the stands if a state will allow it. Although it could create some competitive balance issues, the NFL appears to be waiting until the last moment to decide if fans will be allowed to be in attendance.

However, today’s featured article discusses why the Cleveland Browns will not be allowed to have any fans in attendance at this point.

New order prohibits spectators from attending Browns and Ohio State games – Ben Axelrod, WKYC.com

"According to the order, “spectators are not permitted at the contact sports competitive inter-club/team play.” On Monday, the Ohio Department of Health has confirmed to 3News that this ruling applies to all levels of sports, including collegiate and professional, meaning that fans are currently prohibited from attending Ohio State football and Cleveland Browns’ home games."

Although this order can change at any time, this is the biggest indication the Browns will be playing without fans in 2020. The Browns may be preparing to play in front of fans, but it seems more likely at this point there will be no fans in attendance. It may change before the end of the season, but the Browns should start preparing for fake crowd noise.

OBJ believed the NFL should cancel the season

NFL insider notes: Buying the post-hype Browns, an odd opt-out deadline, rough road for New York teams – Jason La Canfora, CBS Sports

"The deeper we get into this most bizarre offseason in NFL history, the more I find myself buying the Cleveland Browns. And, in particular, buying Kevin Stefanski as the perfect antidote to their flawed, Freddie Kitchens-led 2019 campaign."

There may not be as much hype surrounding the Browns this season as there was in 2019, but they still have more hype than many other teams around the league. After a year of failed expectations, this year’s team looks more prepared to take what’s given to them.
