1. Antwaun Woods, Defensive Tackle

On Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns were dealt a blow as Andrew Billings decided to opt-out of the 2020 NFL Season due to concerns over COVID-19. Billings was signed this offseason to fill the nose tackle position and was expected to help the maligned Cleveland run defense.

With him out, the Browns could look to free agency in order to fill his shoes — and there are a few big names out there still needing a home in 2020. Or, they could call teams that have some better depth and see what they would be willing to take for one of their players.

If they do decide to go the trade route, calling the Dallas Cowboys to ask about Antwaun Woods wouldn’t be a bad idea. Woods was signed as an undrafted free agent out of USC by the Tennesee Titans but broke out when he was added to the Dallas roster in 2016. He started 15 games that season and had 34 tackles.

Woods then started another 10 games in 2019 before having to finish the season on the IR. An unrestricted free agent, he waited until just recently to sign his tender with Dallas, presumably unhappy with the moves they made in the offseason.

Those moves included signing Dontari Poe in free agency while using their third-round pick on Neville Gallimore from Oklahoma. Throw Gerald McCoy and Trysten Hill into the mix and the Cowboys suddenly have a lot of big bodies to move around their defensive line.

For that reason, they could be willing to part with Woods for the right price. And considering he’s their backup nose tackle right now, that price might not be too crazy for Cleveland to pay.

And while Woods won’t exactly light up the stats sheet, he will do the dirty work and clog up running lanes. That alone makes him worth looking into.
