Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know

This has been a much different offseason than what we are used to as teams have been prohibited from holding any offseason activities amid concerns over the spread of the coronavirus. Of course, this doesn’t mean players can’t find ways to work out, and some have even gone to extreme measures to prepare themselves for the 2020 season.

For example, Cleveland Browns tight end Austin Hooper, who was signed away from the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason, ended up moving in with quarterback Baker Mayfield as he says the two are trying to build chemistry together.

Why Browns star Austin Hooper moved in with Baker Mayfield — Samantha Previte, NY Post

"“Austin Hooper is committed to developing ‘chemistry’ with his new quarterback. The two-time Pro Bowl tight end, who joined the Cleveland Browns in NFL free agency, has been shacking up with teammate Baker Mayfield to mitigate the impact of the limited offseason amid the coronavirus pandemic.”"

Hooper and Mayfield aren’t the only players to use this approach but it’s refreshing to see two members of the Browns taking things this seriously. Hooper is now the highest-paid tight end in the NFL and he’s making sure he’s prepared to earn that money once the regular season begins.

Would Andrew Billings have pressed Larry Ogunjobi for the Browns starting defensive tackle job? Hey, Mary Kay! — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“Billings, who was signed away from the Bengals as a free agent in the offseason, would’ve been part of the defensive tackle rotation, and may have made a case for a starting job with stellar play.”"

There’s a lot at play here and Cabot discusses it all. Billings was higher-rated but Oginjobi was considered a better tackler. The fact is, Billings would have been great as a run-stuffer whereas Lary O is the superior pass-rusher. We won’t get to see how they pair together this season but it would have been exciting.

Jarvis Landry healthy, activated from PUP list
