5 Bold predictions for Cleveland Browns 2020 training camp
By Randy Gurzi
What will happen during the Cleveland Browns 2020 training camp?
Training camp is underway for the Cleveland Browns as we are just over a month away from them kicking off their 2020 season. And while we have had so many changes this offseason due to the Coronavirus concerns, there will still be a lot that’s the same — such as training camp storylines to follow.
For the Browns, there’s no shortage to keep up with as we move into 2020. They again have a new head coach as Kevin Stefanski takes the reins and is instilling his offense. There are also some new players but the good news is, most of those are role-players as they return some great skill players such as Naker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham, Myles Garrett, and more.
Here we look ahead to the end of the team’s training camp and give five bold predictions for the 2020 Cleveland Browns.
Near miss: Chad Thomas makes it close against Adrian Clayborn
This one nearly made it into the bold predictions but just falls short. Former third-round pick Chad Thomas took a step forward in 2019 but is far from a finished product. Still, he proved to be a worthy player while Olivier Vernon was injured and Myles Garrett was suspended.
Looking ahead to 2020, he should be even better and has a chance to be the primary reserve defensive end. The problem is, Adrian Clayborn is simply too good for him to beat out. Clayborn is a seasoned vet who was signed by general manager Andrew Berry to ensure they were protected should they lose any starters on the defensive line again in 2020.
Clayborn rose to fame for a 2017 game when he sacked Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys six times but he’s no one-hit-wonder. He’s stout against the run and pass but even if Thomas can be in the same conversation, that will be a huge compliment for him.
