2. Tavierre Thomas, CB

Tavierre Thomas finds himself in an interesting position entering training camp. In 2019, Thomas was a special teams ace who proved to be a valuable asset to coordinator Mike Priefer. With Priefer being the only returning coordinator, it could greatly enhance Thomas’ ability to keep a roster spot.

However, Thomas is listed as a cornerback and if he is not able to provide value in that room first it may spell doom for the third-year player. The Browns have 10 cornerbacks going into training camp, and the likelihood of keeping six on the roster is slim. That leaves five spots for 10 players.

With the top three cornerback spots, occupied by Denzel Ward, Greedy Williams, and Kevin Johnson, looking to be set in permanent marker if not stone, the competition should be fierce for those final two spots. The Browns also have a decision to make on veteran Terrance Mitchell, if they decide to keep Mitchell then that would all but seal Thomas’ fate.

Thomas is going to have to outplay Robert Jackson, A.J. Green, Donnie Lewis, Donovan Olumba, and M.J. Stewart at both cornerback and gunner on special teams to earn his roster spot. Do not be surprised to see that final cornerback spot go to someone not named Thomas.
