The Cleveland Browns were dealt some bad news on Tuesday, as they received multiple injury updates. Not only was Nick Chubb put into the concussion protocol on Tuesday, but linebacker Mack Wilson was carted off the practice field.

It was a tough day for Wilson, as he was demoted to the second-team defense prior to his injury. Wilson was responsible for Chubb’s concussion after Wilson made a hard, high hit on Chubb during Monday’s practice.

Wilson being carted off the field instantly created major concerns for the Browns defense. Linebacker was the thinnest position group on the roster and the Browns did little to improve the unit in the offseason, and Wilson’s injury will create only more questions.

Today’s featured article discusses the issues Wilson’s injury creates for the Browns prior to the start of the 2020 season.

Cleveland Browns News

Browns linebacker Mack Wilson suffers significantly hyperextended left knee; season-ending surgery is possible, source says – Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"The source said Wilson will see another doctor to determine if he needs surgery, and if he does, his season will likely be over. If he doesn’t need surgery, he has a better chance of returning this season, the source said. The hyperextension was first reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport."

It was good news for Wilson and the Browns there was no ligament damage, giving Wilson the possibility to return during the season. However, the uncertainty about the length of time Wilson will miss creates plenty of questions about if the Browns need to target a linebacker with starter experience or if they just need to pursue a linebacker for depth.

Myles Garrett misses Browns practice once again

One of the benefits to the Browns defense in 2020 will be the return of Myles Garrett, which helps the entire defensive unit. However, as Greg Newland discusses, Garrett has not been on the field recently as he nurses an injury.

Notes: David Njoku won’t discuss trade request and rescinding it, eventually says he wants to stay long term – Scott Petrak, BrownsZone

"Njoku asked for a trade in July then rescinded the request. And he said at least three times Tuesday he’s a member of the Browns for the “time being” before finally clarifying he wants to stay for the “long term.”"

David Njoku has seemed to regret his decision to ask for a trade, and it may have been a humbling experience for the first-round pick. It is good to see he is not disgruntled about not being traded and is instead focusing on trying to win games.

CFL cancellation could offer Browns linebacker depth

The Canadian Football League cancelled the 2020 season on Monday, and as Randy Gurzi notes, could give the Browns an option at linebacker that could give the Browns the linebacker depth they need.
