Kevin Johnson is the latest Cleveland Browns camp injury

The Cleveland Browns have been snake-bitten so far in their 2020 training camp. They saw running back Nick Chubb go down with a head injury that left him in the concussion protocol.

A day after that injury, Mack Wilson — the linebacker who tackled Chubb on the infamous play — also found himself injured. Wilson hyperextended his knee and while there’s no timetable for his return yet, it appears he will be out for a long stretch.

Now on Thursday, another injury popped up as cornerback Kevin Johnson was hospitalized with a lacerated liver. According to Mary Kay Cabot, the injury occurred when a teammate land on top of Johnson.

Cabot added that the Browns cornerback is expected to stay at the hospital for at least 24 hours for observation.

Johnson was a former first-round pick of the Houston Texans back in 2015. Coming out of Wake Forest, he was praised for his solid technique and instincts. He was considered by most draft experts to be a sure-thing.

Unfortunately, he was unable to live up to his draft status with Houston. The biggest reason for that was durability as Johnson struggled to stay on the field.

He was released ahead of the 2019 season before joining the Buffalo Bills, where he was an integral part of their stout defense.

Johnson parlayed his successful season in Western New York into a one-year deal with Cleveland. So far in camp, he’s been one of the brightest stars.

One of the newest corners on the team, Johnson has been holding his own with every receiver and had a pick in their first day of one-on-one drills.

Hopefully he will make a quick recovery from the scary injury.
