Browns rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones pushing Higgins for snaps early

Browns rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones challenging Rashard Higgins
When the Cleveland Browns re-signed Rashard Higgins a few months back, fans all across the league were excited to have a favorite return to Cleveland. After being in the dog-house of Freddie Kitchens’ for an entire season, will the chemistry between Higgins and quarterback Baker Mayfield ever be the same again? Will Higgins be able to return to his old form and light it up again next season?
Enter Donovan Peoples-Jones. A guy who Browns fans have been excited about since they got him late in the draft, as seemingly everyone around the draft thought that Peoples-Jones should have been drafted earlier.
Peoples-Jones has already been making himself known around his teammates as well as to the fans, as he had two touchdowns in camp yesterday. One of them was from Mayfield on a play-action rollout to Mayfield’s right.
As we are still in the first few days of camp, who knows what Peoples-Jones role will be with the team right now. That said, Peoples-Jones has sure made more of an impact in camp than Higgins. The Browns wide receiver room is deeper than a lot of people think, with the back end being loaded with Higgins, Peoples-Jones, KhaDarel Hodge and even Hunt at times.
With there being no pre-season this season, I strongly believe that whoever has the better camp will win the number three spot, despite Higgins having the previous chemistry.
DPJ has good size and athletic ability for a number three receiver, and could be a very nice steal for the Browns if he continues to improve and show out this season early.
