It has been well documented how 2020 will be a make-or-break season for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield after his struggles in 2019. In order to help push Mayfield this season, the Browns front office signed Case Keenum to be the No. 2 quarterback behind Mayfield.

Although the Browns have made it well-known Mayfield will be the starting quarterback, many were surprised to sign a quality quarterback like Keenum to be his backup. However, the Browns felt Keenum would help Mayfield’s development, as well as help them on the field if needed.

Mayfield has been impressive during training camp as he has taken this offseason seriously and prepared himself for the condensed time on the field. He has shown up ready to go and has made it clear he put in the work he needed to during the offseason.

In today’s featured article, Keenum discusses why Mayfield has been so impressive during camp and what he has been most impressed with.

"“Obviously we played against each in 2018 in Denver,’’ Keenum said on a Zoom call Wednesday. “He got the better of us then. I’ve known he’s a gamer. He makes some big-time plays, some big-time throws. I was really excited to work with him, and being here, it’s impressive to see."

One of Mayfield’s best attributes his arm strength despite his size. His able to put a tremendous zip on the ball, which helps him throw the ball into tight windows. It may only be a small sample size, but Keenum is starting to see why there is confidence in Mayfield’s arm talent.

"“It is a wide-open competition,” Kiffin said. “I want to see guys work with different people and with different groups out there. Now is the time to show out. Rent is due every single day.”"

The Cleveland Browns may not have been able to sign a star talent like Jadeveon Clowney this offseason, but they have a group of defensive linemen full of versatility. This will allow Chris Kiffin to experiment with some exotic units to create mayhem in the trenches.
