4 takeaways from the Cleveland Browns pad-free Thursday session

The Cleveland Browns wrapped up their first full week of practice on Thursday with a session in shorts and no pads. It was a far-less physically demanding day which is a welcome change after all the issues they had this week with injuries.

First was the potential concussion suffered by running back Nick Chubb. Tackled high by linebacker Mack Wilson, Chubb was placed in the concussion protocol as the team needs to make sure he was good to go before allowing him to get back on the field.

Wilson then ended up being hurt himself the very next day as he went down awkwardly while trying to make a tackle. He was unable to put any weight on his leg afterward and after some time it was learned that he hyperextended his knee.

There was another injury that had a bit more of a scare factor to it as Kevin Johnson was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with a lacerated liver. Johnson had been balling out in camp, and this setback has to be frustrating for him as he’s trying to shake the dreaded injury bug that has followed him throughout his career.

On Thursday, there was no other big news when it came to new injuries which was incredibly positive — although we actually didn’t hear about the extent of Johnson’s issue until then. It was also a rather positive day on the field for the Browns as the majority of the feedback from the session was good.

Here we look back over the final day of their first week of practice and identify the four biggest takeaways, starting with who was able to get back on the field.
