Cleveland Browns rookie WR Donovan Peoples-Jones left practice early

It’s not unique to the Cleveland Browns as every NFL team has to deal with injuries during training camp. However, it feels as though the Browns are abnormally snake-bitten when it comes to health.

They’ve already seen players such as Nick Chubb, Mack Wilson, and Kevin Johnson succumb to injuries — although Chubb is at least back on the field. On top of that, they have Myles Garrett, Jarvis Landry, and Karl Joseph (among others) working their way back from offseason injuries.

Now on Saturday, they might have to add another name to the ever-growing list as rookie wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones walked off to the locker room with a trainer according to Dan Labbe.

As Labbe pointed out, there has been nothing concrete about the rookie being hurt so it’s simply something to monitor at this point.

Peoples-Jones has been playing well in camp for the Browns as he’s in a battle with veteran Rashard Higgins for the No. 3 receiving position behind Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

A sixth-round pick out of Michigan, Peoples-Jones was the only receiver the Browns added in the 2020 NFL Draft. That was a bit surprising considering it was a position of need since the depth chart is rather thin behind Landry and OBJ — not to mention, Higgins wasn’t even re-signed until after the draft.

Cleveland is entering their second week of practices and Saturday’s session is one in shorts and no pads. Still, injuries can occur as the Browns are way too well aware of.
