An update on Cleveland Browns CB Kevin Johnson
After suffering a scary injury in practice, Cleveland Browns cornerback Kevin Johnson has been released from the hospital and will be week-to-week in terms of a return date.
When the Browns signed Johnson a few months ago, they knew they were getting a guy who has been in the league and bounced around a bit, and a guy that was going to give them depth at the cornerback position, something they have not had in a long time.
In terms of early storylines from the first week of Browns camp, Johnson seemed to be at the top of everyone’s list, as he got off to a very solid start to camp, something not a lot of people saw coming.
During Wednesday’s practice, a teammate had fallen on top of Johnson, who was then submitted into University Hospitals for an evaluation that revealed he had suffered a lacerated liver. As an early narrative for the Browns, it seems as though the have had the injury bug early on in camp, something every team hopes they can avoid at the start of every new season.
Johnson has been discharged from the hospital and will be on a week-to-week basis in terms of a possible return date to the field.
When the Browns signed Johnson, they signed him to a 1 year, $3.5 million dollar deal. As Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams continue to grow and develop as the number one and two corners for the Browns, players like Johnson who can give much needed help in the slot can be a huge depth piece for a good price.
For the Browns, adding these little pieces to a roster filled with star talent is a step in the right direction, it all just has to translate over onto the field.
