Cleveland Browns studs and duds after one week of training camp

Dud: David Njoku, Tight End
This offseason has been a roller-coaster for David Njoku. He was hoping to rebound from a frustrating 2019 campaign and new head coach Kevin Stefanski’s system seemed perfect for him. Then, he was relegated to No. 2on the depth chart when Cleveland added Ausitn Hooper in free agency.
Not long after that, the Browns picked Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, giving them another competent player at the position. This led to Njoku hiring Drew Rosenhaus and then requesting a trade. Eventually, he rescinded that demand, and his agent said he was going to be committed after speaking with members of the front office.
"“Some good meetings with the new Browns’ organization including GM Andrew Berry, and he has decided to give the team his full commitment right now and go from there,” his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Jake Trotter."
While this seems like great news, the problem is Njoku didn’t start camp out on the right foot. He had a couple of drops early in camp and his name hasn’t been heard in a positive light nearly as much as Hooper or Bryant’s.
Cleveland is incredibly deep at the position and Njoku is suddenly finding himself struggling to find his role with the team — and there are already those who believe he could be third on the depth chart behind Hooper and the rookie.
