2. Eric Reid

If the Browns don’t want to get crazy and roll the dice on one of the three previous options, Eric Reid is the right player to sign. He’s only 28 years old and will be 29 this season. He has a whopping 98 starts over his NFL career and has played pretty well in those games. Reid doesn’t have a high ceiling like the other three players do for the Browns this season, but he definitely has the highest floor of every option.

Reid checks off every box for what the Browns need right now. He has experience playing both safety spots if they want to have him as a long term player. With around 57 starts at free safety and 41 at strong safety, he knows how to play both spots. With 11 interceptions, five fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles, he knows how to make game-changing plays.

This dude is an overall good football player, and he should be on a roster right now. Of the options on this list, he is probably the only one I would feel comfortable giving more than a one year contract. He was a surprise cut by the Carolina Panthers this past offseason, and should not have lasted this long in free agency.
