Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the news you need to know

We knew it was coming but that didn’t make the news any easier. The Cleveland Browns lost Grant Delpit to an Achilles tear and on Tuesday, the team officially placed him on the injured reserve.

Oddly enough, they claimed another injured player to take his spot on the roster. Cleveland put in a clam — and was awarded the rights to Curtis Weaver, a former Boise State standout. Weaver was waived by the Miami Dolphins with a foot injury.

As for the other injury suffered on Monday, the Browns are still awaiting news — however, it looks as though Greedy Williams is going to miss significant time with a shoulder injury.

The story on Williams, and more, can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Browns’ Greedy Williams could miss significant time with shoulder injury — Jordan Dajani, CBS Sports

"“The following day, head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked if Williams would miss a significant amount of time due to the injury, and he said he wasn’t sure yet, but did not rule it out.‘I would say we will see. Still evaluating,’ replied Stefanski.”"

Williams was a second-round pick out of LSU in 2019 and missed four games as a rookie due to a hamstring injury. Now it appears he could miss even more time this season, which isn’t how he wanted to get his second professional campaign started.

Kevin Johnson does light work at Cleveland Browns practice

With Delpit going to IR and Williams still being out, the Browns got some good news. Kevin Johnson, who lacerated his liver, was already back with the team. He participated in some light drills which is incredibly encouraging given the severity of his injury.

Cleveland Browns 2020 Season Preview — Pete Smith, Browns Digest

"“The challenge for the Browns is getting up to speed fast enough to be able to compete right out of the gate when they face the Ravens. If not, they could round to form later in the year, becoming a dangerous team potentially in a hole trying to scratch and claw their way into the postseason”"

Smith says their head coach inherited a good situation, which he really did. Kevin Stefanski joined a team that has talent and really just needs guidance from their coach. He looks to be the right guy but we need to see it to believe it at this point.

Get the Colts on the phone about Malik Hooker

The Browns need a safety and rather than looking to a free agent, Cory Kinnan thinks they should give the Indianapolis Colts a call about former Ohio State standout Malik Hooker.
