Three needed improvements at Cleveland Browns camp next week
By Greg Newland
With the season just weeks away, the Cleveland Browns have room to improve
The start of the 2020 season has been anything but normal for the Cleveland Browns. A shortened offseason substantially limited face to face coaching for rookies, which will make the transition to the NFL even tougher and no preseason games will make it tougher for teams to gel and for unproven players to make rosters.
While the full effects of COVID-19 are still unknown. At this time testing hasn’t slowed anything down. What remains to be seen is how the league will handle the first outbreak (hopefully never happens). With fewer games, it will be much tougher to reschedule as MLB did in the very beginning of their season.
While there is plenty of negative to talk about this year, it is important to focus on the biggest positive, which is it does appear the NFL season can and will happen. Just two weeks ago, there were a lot of fans who more skeptical that training camp would go this smooth. While COVID-19 is still an issue, cases have started to decline again.
At this point in time, college football still seems like a long shot, even with the BIG12, SEC, and ACC appearing determined to play even with the BIG10 backing out. With so many colleges moving to virtual learning, don’t expect the NCAA to allow the risk of exposure just for a football season. The argument of “student” being removed from the student-athlete would be too strong at that point.
While the NFL season does appear within reach, it is still not guaranteed. After such a disappointing 2019 season, the Browns will be out for redemption and a canceled season would be devastating. While the Browns appear to have a loaded roster, there is still some cause for concern after the first week of live practice. Keep reading to see the three biggest areas of improvement needed before the week one matchup vs. the Baltimore Ravens on September 13th.
