Cleveland Browns: 3 trade targets on Jaguars as they hold fire sale
By Cory Kinnan
LB Myles Jack
Lastly, and one that is a massive longshot due to the feelings of both front offices, is former second round pick Myles Jack. A solid and versatile linebacker would be a fantastic addition to the depth chart in Cleveland, but they have already shown they are highly unwilling to pay big money for a position as easy to replace such as linebacker.
This offseason, the Browns let Pro Bowl linebacker Joe Schobert walk, ironically to the Jaguars, in free agency after being unwilling to meet his contract demands of over $10 million annually. Looking at Jack’s annual salary of over $14 million, it seems highly unlikely the Browns’ current analytically driven front office would be willing to pay that for a linebacker.
However, with the injury to Mack Wilson and the overall youth and inexperience of the linebacking room in Cleveland, the Browns may be willing to budge on their guard rails just a bit. Given his athletic ability and versatility in coverage, Jack would be an asset to the Browns. His price, however, seems to be a bit too steep for Cleveland to pay, both his contract and in his trade value.
