Predicting the Cleveland Browns Week 1 55-man roster

The Cleveland Browns are coming down to the final stretch of their 2020 training camp and the stories have been coming out at a rapid pace. Unfortunately, many of those headlines have been frustrating as the team has been dealt a terrible hand when it comes to injuries.

They survived their first big scare, which was when running back Nick Chubb was tackled high by linebacker Mack Wilson and had to be tended to by trainers. Chubb was then placed in the concussion protocol and missed a few practices before being cleared.

While he was out, Wilson ended up being on the injury report as he hyperextended his knee. The Browns did get some good news on Wilson as it was revealed he won’t need surgery — which didn’t appear to be the case when he first went down. He will still miss time but will at least see the field in 2020.

Also missing time in their second season will be Greedy Williams. The second-round pick out of LSU injured his shoulder and like Wilson, has no timetable for his return — although he’s not expected to miss the whole season. They then lost another second-round pick from LSU as Grant Delpit — taken this past spring — tore his Achilles. There was also a lacerated liver suffered by Kevin Johnson which has the secondary depleted beyond belief.

It’s safe to say at this point that first-year head coach Kevin Stefanski and his roster are being tested. Their depth coming into the season was better than what he and general manager Andrew Berry inherited which will help them manage but some of these losses will be hard to overcome.

That doesn’t mean they won’t try. With the practices remaining, the Browns need to work hard to figure out which players will make this final roster. Here, we will try and predict who will make the cut with this Week 1 55-man roster projection.
