The Cleveland Browns could get some veteran help

Sunday was a day to forget for the Cleveland Browns and thankfully, they have a short week so we can hopefully put their loss to Baltimore out of our minds quickly. What we can’t forget though, was the way the team seemed to be missing talent in certain spots.

Some of this was due to injury as Greedy Williams, Grant Delpit, and Mack Wilson were just some of the players lost. But some was due to players not living up to their expectations.

While we can’t throw everyone who had a rough start out, there’s no reason not to look for more talent in free agency. And with the way NFL rules work, teams often do this after Week 1.

This is because many vested NFL contracts are guaranteed if the player is on the roster for Week 1. This isn’t the case once the first game passes, so some of the veterans who were unsigned a week ago could now find homes. And for the Browns, there are a few players worth kicking the tires on.

Honorable Mention: Kai Forbath, Kicker

Austin Seibert was a problem on Sunday and the Browns are likely going to make a change at kicker. They do have Cody Parkey on the practice squad but he’s had his own demons on the field. He also doesn’t have to be their only option.

Cleveland could add another kicker, and Kai Forbath is a solid option. Forbath was perfect to close out the season for the Dallas Cowboys last year but has not caught on anywhere in 2020 — even though he was originally brought back by Dallas and then had a workout with the Browns.

For his career, Forbath has connected on 86.8 percent of his kicks and 93.8 percent of his extra points. Those would be some welcomed stats at this point.
