Cleveland Browns studs and duds from the Week 1 letdown

Well after a long offseason, football is back. The 2020 season did not get off to a great start for the Cleveland Browns, however, as they fell to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 38-6. Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw an interception on the opening drive of the game and the momentum never really swung back.

The Browns knew they had a tough start drawing Baltimore in Week 1, but there were not a lot of positive signs from Cleveland. Even on the only Browns’ score, they failed to convert the point after attempt. There was not a lot for Cleveland to hang their hat on in Sunday’s game.

There were some players who did have individually good efforts, while plenty of others who had a rather poor performance. In this article, we will dive into who were the studs and duds for the Browns in week one.

Honorable mention stud: Jarvis Landry

Jarvis Landry had offseason surgery to repair an injured hip, and was close to being fully healthy entering this year. Landry had a fine showing Sunday as he hauled in five of his six targets for 61 yards receiving. He seemed like the reliable Landry that the Browns are accustomed to seeing.

Landry didn’t rack up a ton of yards or make any highlight-reel plays, but had a solid game for the Browns. He catches the football and keeps the chains moving. He was one of the only bright spots on the Browns’ offense in the game, but he is certainly capable of more dominating performances which the Browns may need to win some games.
