Stud: David Njoku

Browns tight end David Njoku had a very solid day against the Ravens as he had three catches for 50 yards including the Browns’ only touchdown. He also had an incredible catch over a defender on a highly lofted pass from Baker Mayfield.

Njoku was listed as the third tight end on the depth chart and was taking some heat this offseason for drops in training camp. He has had problems his entire young career with catching the football consistently. For a player who some people were starting to write off, he had quite the game to remind people of his talent and extremely high ceiling.

The young tight end requested a trade earlier this offseason but was talked into staying after a conversation with his role in the new offense. Sure enough, he showed how important he can be and how valuable the Browns’ talent and depth at the tight end spot is. Njoku out-performed the other two tight ends in the first game.

This game by Njoku hopefully has regained some trust in Mayfield and the coaches. If he can continue to be a playmaker and catch the football consistently, he can help the offense tremendously. The Browns need as many playmakers as possible. Good start to the season by Njoku and hopefully he builds momentum.
