Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know

If there was any silver lining in the Cleveland Browns defeat in Week 1, it was the play of the offensive line. Clearly the biggest weakness for them in 2019, the front five did an admiral job protecting Baker Mayfield and opening holes for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.

Both starting tackles performed well as Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills, Jr. looked to be great additions. Also impressive was Wyatt Teller at right guard, meaning that spot should also be locked down.

Unfortunately, the Browns also had some bad luck with the line as both Conklin and WIlls are banged up on a short week. This is with the team already concerned about J.C. Tretter’s knee and an ankle issue for swing tackle Chris Hubbard.

It’s just another thing to be concerned about as the team prepares for their Thursday night matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Browns RT Jack Conklin listed as ‘did not practice’ for Bengals with ankle & finger injuries; Jedrick Wills limited with shin — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“Starting right tackle Jack Conklin showed up on the report as a DNP — did not practice — with ankle and finger injuries suffered during the 38-6 loss. Conklin played all 73 snaps in Baltimore and never showed any signs of strain, but the fact he’s banged up in a short week is significant.”"

In addition to Conklin being banged, Cabot reports that Jedrick Wills, Jr. injured his shin and would have been limited had the team practiced Monday. It’s not ideal, especially with all the other injuries but there’s still no indication that either tackle will miss the upcoming game.

No time to waste: Browns ‘already into Week 2’ with Bengals game looming — Andrew Gribble, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“We just have to identify and correct,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. “That is Week 1. We are already into Week 2, but we have to make sure with the players that we identify some things that we can do better and correct them so that we do not make some of those same mistakes again.”"

If there’s anything to love about Kevin Stefanski, it’s his approach. He’s a no-nonsense coach who doesn’t want to dwell on the past but simply move on to Cincinnati. Hey, it worked for Bill Belichick, right?

3 players who contributed big time to Sunday’s meltdown

Grant Puskar took some time to look back over the Browns game on Sunday and identified which three players contributed most to the meltdown in Baltimore.

Cleveland Browns waive Austin Seibert, ending another Dorsey pick’s tenure

In a very unsurprising move, the Browns decided to waive kicker Austin Seibert after he missed an extra point and a field goal. The old saying is that a team should never use draft picks on a kicker and in this case, it seems to have held true.
