Andrew Berry continues to put the Cleveland Browns on the map

In just his first year since taking over a roster with no depth and holes in crucial positions, general manager Andrew Berry has the Cleveland Browns back in a favorable position. With a 1-1 record, the Browns are set to take on the Washington Football Team this Sunday in hopes of seeing a winning record for the first time since 2014.

We are just two weeks into this 2020 season, but one thing remains significantly obvious from the John Dorsey and Freddie Kitchens led team a year ago: this squad has a direction and an identity. Much of that can be credited to Paul DePodesta, the chief strategy officer, who finally won over owner Jimmy Haslam and won the battle to hire head coach Kevin Stefanski and Berry as his general manager.

Inheriting a roster with gaping holes at both starting positions and depth pieces, a roster handled by former GM Dorsey, Berry and his team have taken the challenge head on and filled holes with either tantalizing rookies or veteran stop gaps to compete in 2020. As a result, Berry is hearing the songs of praise from his peers around the league.

While there are still holes on the roster, mostly due to the suffering blow of injuries to key players like second round pick Grant Delpit, linebacker Mack Wilson, cornerback Greedy Williams, and the opting out of Andrew Billings, the depth on the Browns is significantly deeper than it was a year ago. That credit goes to Berry.
