Cleveland Browns stockpile defense in 7-round 2021 mock draft
By Randy Gurzi
There’s no guarantee that the Browns are going to be willing to keep both Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry again in 2021. There’s a chance they will, but then again, a team that wants to run the ball as often as they do might not be willing to fork out top-dollar for two receivers. At the very least, it could end up being their final year together, especially with several young players up for a new contract.
For that reason, they could be looking for someone to groom and Justyn Ross is a player who would fit Kevin Stefanski’s offense well. He’s a possession guy who would help keep the chains moving since he knows how to use his frame, as notated by Joe Marino of The Draft Network.
"“Thick, physical frame and he plays to his size. Has excellent play strength and it shows up when he’s challenged with contact as a route runner or with the ball in his hands. Thrives in a possession-style role where he showcases the ability to uncover quickly, position his frame and present himself to the quarterback. Has some impressive grabs on film where he plucks the football away from his frame and holds on through contact. Ball skills are reliable and there aren’t issues tracking or adjusting.” — Marino, The Draft Network"
Ross might have gone higher than this but a June surgery could slow him down some. In the end, that could be a blessing for the Browns who land a talented player here.
