The Cleveland Browns continue to battle injuries

So far in 2020, the Cleveland Browns have been snake bitten when it comes to injuries. While every team has had their problems — likely due to the lack of offseason programming and the preseason — they have really been hit hard.

And on Wednesday, they had a few more big names sitting out of practice as Kareem Hunt, Denzel Ward, and Joel Bitonio all were idle.

Also sitting out was linebacker Tae Davis and defensive end Adrian Clayborn. Cleveland has gotten some of their players back recently, but the injuries continue to be a concern.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Cleveland Browns News

Kareem Hunt, Denzel Ward, Joel Bitonio among Browns players idle with injuries Wednesday in practice for Cowboys — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“Two key members of the Browns’ third-ranked running game in Kareem Hunt and left guard Joel Bitonio were among the five players that were idle on Wednesday as the Browns began installing the gameplan for Dallas on Sunday.”"

In addition to Bitonio and Hunt missing time, Denzel Ward also sat out with a groin injury. Cleveland has been struggling to stay healthy, so this isn’t an ideal report. Still, there’s plenty of time for them to get healthy and be ready to go.

Seattle Seahawks sign former Packers, Browns DB Damarious Randall — Brady Henderson, ESPN

"“With injury issues in their secondary, the Seattle Seahawks have signed former Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns defensive back Damarious Randall to their practice squad.”"

There was a time when Cleveland fans were ready to see Damarious Randall locked up long-term. However, he had a rough 2019 and they were then happy to see him head out. He landed with the Raiders but was cut before the season began but is now getting another shot with Seattle.

NFLPA president JC Tretter calls for all teams to use grass fields — Jake Trotter, ESPN

"“Tretter, the starting center for the Cleveland Browns, wrote in a newsletter that players have a 28% higher rate of noncontact lower extremity injuries when playing on artificial turf as compared to grass. Tretter, citing NFL injury data collected from 2012 to 2018, added that those rates are even higher for noncontact knee injuries (32%) and noncontact foot and ankle injuries (69%) on turf as compared to grass.”"

Tretter has been all about looking out for his fellow players and is doing so again here as he is asking for the league to make the field safer for their players.
