Takitaki discusses Cleveland Browns plans for stopping Dallas in Week 4

The Cleveland Browns have a big game on the schedule in Week 4 as they will be heading to Arlington, Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys. Entering this game, the Browns have the better record at 2-1 whereas Dallas in 1-2 — but assuming that means they’re facing a bad team would be a mistake.

Fortunately, the Browns players don’t seem to be taking this team lightly. That’s at least the way it seemed when second-year linebacker Sione Takitaki called into The Jim Rome Show and talked about how he and his teammates can stop the Cowboys.

The plan from Takitaki sounded simple enough as he said they “gotta get them to third down and get them off the field.” He said the key will be shutting down the run to force them into the third-and-longs.

Of course, getting them to third down isn’t enough and Takitaki understood that as well. While he said Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott are the leaders of the team, they have plenty of other weapons on offense that can hurt you.

The BYU product pointed to the wideouts, which is a position of strength for Dallas. They already have two 1,000-yard guys in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup but also added CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL Draft. If that wasn’t enough, Cedrick Wilson broke out with two touchdowns last week against the Seattle Seahawks.

While it is a daunting task, this is a winnable game for the Browns and Takitaki knows that as well. He said the Cowboys have been in close games all season, which is true as their biggest point differential was in Week 3 when they lost by seven. Cleveland will have a chance, especially if they do find a way to make the stops on third down.
