Week 9: BYE

The Cleveland Browns got themselves a well-timed bye week as it comes right after they play half their games. Hopefully, by this point, they will start to see some of their injured players return to the field.

Week 10 vs. Houston Texans

This game seemed like an easy win until the Houston Texans canned Bill O’Brien. With him as the head coach, this franchise was in a free fall. With him gone, and Romeo Crennel taking over as interim, the Texans will be more competitive. That doesn’t mean they’ll win though as there’s still a lot for Crennel to fix and while he’s a capable coach, he’s been a defensive coordinator for most of his career for a reason.

Prediction: Cleveland 27, Houston 13

Week 11 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Had this game happened early on in the season, the Browns would have made easy work of the Philadelphia Eagles. They needed until Week 4 to get their first win of the year and that should propel them forward. For that reason, they’re able to steal a narrow win over Cleveland.

Prediction: Philadelphia 26, Cleveland 23

Week 12 at Jacksonville Jaguars

What? Two bye weeks in the same quarter of the season? Okay, so maybe it’s not a bye week but right now, this seems to be the easiest win on the schedule for the Browns. It will be nice to see Joe Schobert again, and it will be even better to see Cleveland icing a win with a ton of runs in the second quarter to kill the clock.

Prediction: Cleveland 37, Jacksonville 13

Week 13 at Tennessee Titans

From the AFC South cellar to the AFC South penthouse. The Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts seem to be the only competitive teams in that division. Entering this week, the Browns are 2-1 against those clubs but they drop the final battle in this division.

It should be a good game but Derrick Henry proves to be simply too much. His running keeps the Cleveland offense sidelined as he has his way with the Browns linebackers. Still, they stay at .500 for the four games in this quarter of the season which means their record continues to be impressive.

Prediction: Tennessee 27, Cleveland 17

Third-quarter record: 2-2
Overall record: 8-4
