The Cleveland Browns had a completely new safety room heading into this season. General manager Andrew Berry brought in veterans Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo to bring leadership and experience to what was going to be a very young defensive back group. The Browns also drafted LSU star Grant Delpit in the second round and also had last year’s 4th round pick, Sheldrick Redwine.

Initially, it seemed as though Sendejo would be a depth player that could help the young players learn Joe Woods’ system. Unfortunately, though, Delpit had an Achilles injury that sidelined him for the season and thus inserted Sendejo into the starting lineup.

Sendejo has been one of the biggest disappointment on the season for Cleveland. He has been exposed by opposing offenses for the entirety of the first four games. Sendejo has missed countless tackles and got beat in coverage too many times, both of which have resulted in big plays and even touchdowns. Last week against the Cowboys, Sendejo gave up a touchdown in coverage to CeeDee Lamb and also missed both the ball and the tackle on a touchdown pass to Amari Cooper that never should have happened.

The Browns recently acquired former Alabama safety, Ronnie Harrison, from Jacksonville before the season started. The Browns have slowly worked him into the rotation as he tallied 11 snaps against Dallas. Hopefully, he gets fully up to speed soon and takes over Sendejo in the starting lineup full-time.
