Game: Indianapolis Colts (3-1) at Cleveland Browns (3-1)
The Cleveland Browns enter their Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts with a 3-1 record, and look to continue their three-game winning streak.
Cleveland put a real thrashing on the Dallas Cowboys, putting up over 300 yards rushing and 49 points. The Cowboys defense ranks at the bottom of the league in most categories, but to put up that kind of yardage and that many points on the board was still a pleasant surprise for Browns fans.
The Indianapolis Colts are much more talented on defense, and their rankings prove it. They currently rank as the number one defense in the NFL in terms of points allowed, and are also at the top in terms of rushing yards allowed per game.
Essentially, this game is strength on strength; a strong offensive line and talented running backs against an immovable object on the defensive side of the ball. The matchups should be very fun to watch. It’s ultimately going to come down to which quarterback makes the least amount of mistakes.
Cleveland will try to get their rushing attack going, even without Nick Chubb, and Kareem Hunt is more than capable of keeping the show going on his own. But Baker Mayfield may be called on a few more times than in recent weeks to make a play, and if that’s the case, he must be sure to be ready and make the right read, as well as avoid turning the ball over.
I believe the play-calling of head coach Kevin Stefanski will keep Baker comfortable with his reads, and allow the Browns to keep playing to their strengths all game. They may not put up 300 rushing yards again, but if they can get some success on the ground, and keep the Colts defense guessing as far as what is coming next, the Browns should be able to win a close, entertaining game.
Prediction: Cleveland 31, Indianapolis 24
