1. Baker Mayfield

Similar to having a great head coach, success is also hard to come by without a competent quarterback leading the team. Baker Mayfield is the Browns’ 30th quarterback to play since 1999. The Browns have had incredibly poor production at QB and has been a large reason why they have lacked successful seasons.

Now the Browns have Mayfield after selecting him first overall in the 2018 draft after his Heisman trophy winning season with Oklahoma. In his rookie season, Mayfield set the rookie record for 27 touchdown passes which he did in only 13.5 games. He and the Browns finished the last eight games with a 5-3 record and brought some hope into 2019.

2019 did not go as planned, and Mayfield struggled. He lacked confidence, accuracy, and mobility. Freddie Kitchens was in over his head as head coach and was lost as a play caller. 2019 is over and 2020 is a different season and a different Mayfield.

Mayfield has looked accurate, poised, and not forcing passes. He has been extremely efficient throwing for a 62.6 percent completion percentage and a touchdown to interception ratio of seven to two. He is saying and doing the right things on and off the field for the Browns and leading the team to victories.

The Browns have a quarterback who has proven he can succeed in the NFL and hold his own. He can lead a team full of weapons into the playoffs this year. He and Stefanski have bonded very well and are running a run-heavy offense with passing schemes coming out of play action very effectively.
